Apparently it's critical to calibrate new batteries, too. The first full discharge lasted 104 minutes, the second lasted 173. I think I'll try a third one and see how far this new battery goes.

That's with BatteryAmnesia forcing the CPU to full speed, the display to max backlight, and not letting anything sleep. I'm sure the BlueSCSI instead of a spinning HD helps a lot.

My new PowerBook 180 battery is working!

I am making a 3d-printed case (excuse the red - still prototyping) for this off-the-shelf 6V 4500mAh battery pack for my PowerBook 180 that the original sliding door can attach to

Just need to source some contacts (nickel?) to attach the battery pack wires to on the corner of the case and it should be good to go
